In class, you have already created a world, conflict in that world, and a resolution of some sort. Now, it’s time to put the whole thing together in a story format. Have fun with this!
The top of your 3-page (min) paper should look like this. Include your name, the class, and the date as well as the title. Your name should NOT be at the top of each page, only the first page.
Your 3-page paper (min) should be double-spaced and typed with a 12-point font. Times New Roman and Arial are acceptable. Bold print is NOT acceptable. Margins should be normal. If you clearly adjusted margins to make the paper longer I will know.
Your paper should have an introduction and a conclusion of adequate length. The intro should be catchy in some way. It should not be just the description of your world. It’s probably a good idea to introduce at least one character at this point. Somehow you need to draw in your audience.
Your conclusion, likewise, should be a natural wrap-up of the story. It shouldn’t end abruptly. It could even end with someone learning a lesson. It doesn’t matter as long as there is some form of a conclusion.
Please remember general rules as you type your paper. For example:
“If I am talking,” said Mr. Huber.
“But now someone else is talking,” said someone else.
Then a new paragraph must be started for each new speaker. Now, I’m bright enough to realize if you’re trying to stretch your paper out in all possible ways. If you use a lot of quotes to make your paper closer to 3-pages it will be quite obvious.
Half of your grade will be based on the story that you came up with. Does it make sense? Does the story flow well? Are the characters well established or do I have nagging questions?
The other half of your grade will be based on grammar and punctuation so please keep this in mind as well.
